Privacy Policy

Effective date: 15 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Real Story collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website realstory.al and the Real Story mobile app (Android and iOS).

By using our services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or the app.

1. Who we are

Real Story
Rruga “Donika Kastrioti”, Pallati 14, Ap. 4E, Tirana, Albania
NIPT/NUIS: L81326022G
Email: [email protected]

2. What data we collect

2.1 Website (realstory.al)

When you visit our website, the following may be collected automatically:

  • IP address, browser type, operating system, and device information;
  • pages visited, visit time, and referrer (which site you came from);
  • cookies and similar technologies (e.g. for site functionality, preferences, or analytics).

If you contact us by email or through contact forms, we collect the information you voluntarily provide (e.g. name, email, message).

2.2 Real Story mobile app

The app reads news and content from our website. To operate, it may process:

  • Push notification token (FCM): if you enable notifications, the app generates a technical device identifier that is sent to our servers so we can send you alerts about new articles or live broadcasts;
  • Local data on your device: preferences stored on your phone (e.g. notification state, articles opened from a notification) — this does not directly identify you;
  • Technical data: device type and operating system, for diagnostics and app improvement.

The app does not require account registration and does not collect your name, phone number, or password for normal use.

3. How we use data

We use collected information to:

  • provide and improve news content and website/app services;
  • send push notifications (only if you have enabled them);
  • ensure technical operation, error diagnosis, and protection against abuse;
  • respond to questions or contact requests;
  • comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process data based on:

  • legitimate interest in operating a news platform and securing our services;
  • your consent when you enable push notifications or accept non-essential cookies;
  • legal obligations where required by law.

5. Third parties and external services

We may use service providers that process data on our behalf, including:

  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — for sending push notifications (Google Privacy Policy);
  • YouTube / Google — when you watch embedded videos on the website or in the app (YouTube Terms);
  • Revive Adserver / advertising — for displaying promotional content; advertisers may use cookies or similar identifiers under their own policies;
  • Social networks (Facebook, YouTube, X) — when you follow our links to them, processing is handled by the respective platform.

These third parties have their own privacy policies. We do not fully control how they process your data.

6. Cookies

Our website may use essential cookies (for site functionality) and, where necessary, analytics or advertising cookies. You can manage or refuse non-essential cookies through your browser settings or a cookie banner (if enabled on the site).

7. Data retention

Data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes described above, to meet legal obligations, or to resolve disputes. Push notification tokens may be removed when you uninstall the app or disable notifications.

8. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data;
  • request correction or deletion;
  • object to or restrict processing;
  • withdraw consent (e.g. by disabling notifications in your phone settings);
  • lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

For any request, contact us at [email protected].

9. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure.

10. Children

Our services are not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The revised version will be published on this page with the effective date. Continued use of our services after changes means you accept the updated policy.
